Arkansas SR-22 Insurance
If you’ve been convicted of a serious traffic offense in Arkansas, you may be required to file an SR-22 certificate.
Understanding SR-22 Insurance in Arkansas
An SR-22 is a document proves that you carry the state’s minimum required liability insurance and is typically mandated by the court or the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA).
Many states require SR-22 insurance after DUI/DWI offenses, but Arkansas does not require SR-22 insurance after a DWI. However, SR-22 may be required for other offenses that result in a driver's license suspension after a criminal conviction such as vehicular homicide, reckless driving, or are a habitual traffic offender.
Generally, you must maintain the SR-22 on file for for three years. It’s crucial to maintain continuous coverage during this period. Any lapse in your SR-22 insurance could result in your license being suspended again, and you may have to start the filing process from scratch.
